This way to bargain hunting!
The fleet of 68 signs is hosted in houses reminiscent of large boathouses or canneries. The palette of wood stains in shades of gray that cover the facades recalls the skies and wet sands of the equinox tides. Zinc roofs, gables, large awnings, a play of dormers and chimneys, oculus windows and skylights... The diversity of facades creates rhythm along the way, punctuated by strong landmarks: a giant 4 x 4 meter wooden dovecote at the entrance, the children’s area like a giant game of pick-up sticks, lighting masts and flagpoles inspired by driftwood.
First all-wood shopping center
In keeping with the West Coast spirit – where pontoons, fishers’ huts and beach cabins are part of the landscape – the choice of wood was only natural for its responsible and sustainable qualities, as well as its cost and speed of execution. The architect Christophe Vergnaud, a DPLG architect associated with Saguez & Partners, built the store fronts using spruce timber framing. A total of 1,700 m3 of Woodeum CLT® lumber were used in conjunction with other materials resistant to westerly winds, such as the 18,000 m2 of zinc used for roofing and cladding. Furnishings in grey-weathered spruce, custom-designed by the agency, invite you to take a break on a bench, a conversation seat, a chaise longue or a garden bench on the terrace.
