Rebirth of an iconic hotel in Arizona

Once upon a time, there was an iconic resort set in the heart of Paradise Valley, in Scottsdale, Arizona. A landmark destination surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of the Sonoran Desert and the iconic silhouettes of Mummy Mountain and Camelback Mountain. In just 15 months, Saguez & Dash, the hospitality arm of Saguez & Partners, led a major transformation of the Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas.

From a Closed Resort to an Open Oasis

The project aimed to reposition an outdated 1980s three-star hotel complex into an upper upscale four-star resort destination, with a strong brand identity, in the sought-after Paradise Valley area.

Spread across nearly 16 hectares, the property includes close to 400 rooms and villas, organized around expansive outdoor leisure spaces. The entire layout is designed to offer unobstructed panoramic views of the mountains, an essential feature that anchors the experience in its natural surroundings.

Located in the heart of Scottsdale, Arizona, the Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas is reborn at the foot of the spectacular landscapes of the Sonoran Desert and the iconic peaks of Mummy Mountain and Camelback Mountain.

A Grand Hotel with a Local Soul

At the heart of the shared spaces, a monumental textile installation, The Giant Loom, highlights the project’s artisanal dimension. Designed by Saguez & Dash and created by artist Mariella Motilla for Obakki, the piece runs through the lobby like a unifying thread.

This giant loom symbolically connects spaces and circulation paths. Its panels echo the contours of Camelback Mountain and the lines of Mummy Mountain. Ethically produced in a village in Mexico, the installation reinterprets traditional weaving techniques from Indigenous communities

404 rooms, suites, and villas: nature-inspired retreats. The walls are dressed in subtle tones that reflect the shifting colors of the Arizona sky. Natural materials take center stage: light wood, textiles, and mineral finishes. The soft lines of the furniture echo the organic forms of the landscape, turning each room into an interior extension of the desert.

From king rooms to casitas with living areas and bars, every space extends the experience of an immersive stay in the heart of the Sonoran Desert.

Outdoors, the lawns have been replaced by a garden designed in collaboration with Hillman Workshop: agaves, palo verde, cacti, tree yuccas,Joshua trees and other native species create a water-efficient oasis, true to the Sonoran Desert ecosystem.

Six pools with distinct atmospheres are spread across the property: some lively and social, others calm and intimate. The Desert Reveries, installations somewhere between lounges and art pieces, invite contemplation. From sunrise to star-filled nights, the landscape becomes an experience in itself.

The façades, finished with a hand-troweled white stucco inspired by Southwestern Hispanic architecture, gain brightness while reducing heat absorption.

Fire, a fundamental element of Southwestern living, is expressed through a large Kiva fireplace, emblematic of the region’s vernacular architecture.

A Landmark Project for Saguez & Dash

The Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas marks a key milestone for Saguez & Dash. After a symbolic first year, it is the first project fully led by the brand, bringing together all its areas of expertise: strategy, branding, naming, wayfinding, interior architecture, and overall experience.
