Île-de-France Region

Public administration goes pop open space

Missioned by Tishman Speyer, Saguez & Partners drew on its Workstyle® expertise to design the interior architecture of this quirky, fresh and bold venue: after more than 20 years spent in Paris on numerous scattered sites, the Ile-de-France Region moved in January 2018 to Seine-Saint-Denis, in the new Docks of Saint-Ouen eco-neighborhood, at the heart of the Greater Paris issues.

A unique site for working together, working differently

The Influence building, designed by architect Jacques Ferrier, comprises seven floors and four pavilions arranged around a central landscaped garden housing all occupant services.

The move will not only provide a better working environment to meet the new needs of employees, but will also provide the Île-de-France Region with a facility that complies with environmental, technological and accessibility standards. This move is not just a change of address.

It’s the transformation of an administration: more transversal, open and connected. A true model project for a 21st century administration. Convinced that a real sense of well-being in the workplace leads to greater productivity, Saguez & Partners created all the conditions for a high level of comfort and service.

Oh what colors! A model project for 21st-century administration.

Optimistic design

In such a large and unique building, it’s important to create landmarks so that users can find their way around, and avoid places where everything looks the same, leading to monotony. 4 strong colors for the 4 cardinal points. Tone and graphics at elevator exits. A multiplicity of graphic panels on walls and windows to brighten up the space. Simple, strong markers on 4,000 m² floors. More than fifty graphic designers work on themes that reinterpret the codes of a region on the move, with a sense of humor and quirkiness. Offbeat, fresh and daring, the “pop open space” is the new working environment for agents and civil servants of the Île-de-France Region. Design isn’t just for looks!®

“The challenge isn’t having your own space, but many—both for yourself and for others.” – Pierre-Olivier Pigeot

A frugal design

By moving into the new eco-neighborhood of the Docks, the Île-de-France Region is taking an exemplary approach to the environment, accessibility and mixed-use. Through rigorous choices in terms of acoustics, lighting, flooring, circulation and partitioning, as well as the modularity of spaces over time, the site’s construction and design not only serve its uses, but are also invigorating, simple, sustainable and, above all, highly economical.
