Kansai International Airport
City Life
The 2025 World Expo in Osaka is one of the major challenges of this renovation. The aim: to welcome 44 million travelers per year.
From interior design to retail experience, Saguez & Partners worked hand in hand with Populous architects and Vinci Airports teams to design a unique experience for passengers at Japan’s Kansai International Airport. More than an architectural landmark, this exceptional transformation represents a new strategy for Vinci’s future airports.

From functional airport to unique travel experience
Saguez & Partners’ Common Thread work was carried out beforehand to create the Sense of Place, by integrating the major codes of Japanese culture into the existing terminal. The Tasty Street, for example, was inspired by the stalls in Osaka, the world capital of street food, and offers a very wide range of catering options. The products on offer, the materials, the lighting... It’s as if you were there.

Design by Moods
The new airport offers a journey combining retail and catering. This new approach has been christened by the agency: Design by Moods. The idea? Imagine hybrid itineraries that include a variety of brands to suit different tastes. If you’re planning a trip to Osaka, you’ll pass through several moods according to your desires: Curious, Peaceful, Fun, or Active.
