Quality of life at work: 2023 update

The need for conviviality

The results of the barometer show that 70% of respondents agree that the value of coming to the office lies in social interaction and conviviality. At Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, for example, which the agency will be developing in 2022, 1/3 of the surface area of each office floor is dedicated to collaboration. Located in the front corners of the building, bathed in natural light, they are the perfect place to work differently, for brainstorming, internal meetings, video-conferencing, micro-meetings... Refocusing. The Adenauer Café is the building’s flagship space for exchanging ideas and meeting people. Open to the outside world, it is the vibrant heart of the head office.

Saguez & Partners is a partner of the 10th Actinéo barometer of quality of life at work. This is THE major bi-annual survey, based on the experience of 1,200 working people in offices.

Where and how do we work? What about well-being at work? And what about furnishings? A fundamental lesson: because the office continues to be a place of conviviality, it’s not about to disappear! Sociability, commitment, well-being and a sense of belonging to one’s company... these are just some of the factors that lead us to think about the office of the future.

Let’s take a look at three examples of office projects designed by Saguez & Partners.

Nomadic workers

The survey reveals that 36% of working people surveyed **work at least once a month in a third place location, and 7% in hotels. Business travel, telecommuting, seminars... it’s not uncommon to find oneself in a hotel during the course of one’s working life. However, hotels don’t yet offer all the qualities you need to work well: light, temperature, ergonomic furniture, internet connection... At the Kimpton Saint-Honoré, beyond this textured entrance: the agency has created a quiet, confidential space for business meetings or solo concentration. The 220 m2 Business Center offers five meeting rooms and a herbal tea space for a break. Equipped with a luminous acoustic ceiling, natural light floods the space.

Ergonomics: a growing requirement

The barometer shows that 37% of working people express difficulty concentrating when working in the office. And ¼ of office workers feel that their workspaces are not well adapted to their needs. Being able to concentrate in an ergonomic workspace are requirements expected by employees. At Boston Consulting Group, the agency designed meeting rooms, all with panoramic double screens. They also all benefit from specific front indirect lighting for videoconferencing, and modular wall writing. This innovative, ergonomic and personalized equipment meets the needs of BCG’s employees.
